Finding Freedom with Harvest Hosts
One of the first apps we subscribed to after buying our travel trailer was Harvest Hosts. According to their site:
“Harvest Hosts is a network of farms, wineries, breweries & distilleries, golf courses, community hosts and more that invite RVers to stay overnight, giving Members safe, convenient, and unique places to stay during their travels.”
Our maiden voyage confirmed it. This app is worth every penny. When we plan a trip, we rarely drive more than three hours or 300 miles in a day. That sweet spot keeps travel enjoyable and not exhausting. Harvest Hosts makes it easy to find safe, scenic overnight stays that do not break the budget.
We have parked under vineyard sunsets, outside historic saloons, and beside small mom-and-pop shops where the owners waved us in like old friends. The beauty of it is not just the free stays. It is the people and the stories. You end each stop with a memory, not a receipt.
Most hosts do not offer hookups for water or power, though some have restrooms or basic amenities. A few charge a small fee for limited hookups, but even that costs far less than a night at an RV resort. We always make a point to support the businesses we visit by buying a bottle of wine, a local craft beer, or something from the farm stand. It is a simple way to give back for the hospitality.
This post is not sponsored. There is no affiliate link hiding here, just a genuine appreciation for how much joy this app adds to our travels. Harvest Hosts occasionally offers seasonal discounts, so keep an eye out if you are thinking about joining.
At its heart, Harvest Hosts captures the reason we hit the road in the first place. It is not just about where you are going. It is about who you meet and what you discover along the way. The journey becomes the destination.
